About us

Maldives Tidalist covers the Maldivian economy – how money moves, how businesses operate, and how policy shapes both. We report on finance, tourism, trade, state-owned enterprises, and the regulations that affect them.

We are not a general news site. We focus on business and policy because those forces determine the cost of living, the health of jobs, and the direction of the country.

Who This Is For

This site is for anyone who earns, spends, or invests money in the Maldives. That includes business owners, government staff, investors, entrepreneurs, and working people who want to understand the economic news that matters to them.

How We Work

  • Facts first. We report what happened, what was said, and what the data shows. We do not publish speculation or opinion as news.
  • News and opinion are separate. Our analysis pieces are clearly labelled. Our news stories stay neutral.
  • We chase exclusives. When a company defaults on a Sukuk, or a policy changes quietly, we want to be the first to tell you.
  • We explain the "why". Breaking news is useful; understanding why it happened is valuable. We aim for both.

Our Standards

  • No hidden agendas. We do not take money from the people or companies we cover. We do not write stories in exchange for favors.
  • We correct mistakes openly. If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the change. No defensiveness.
  • We avoid political loyalties. We report on all parties and policies without rooting for any. Our job is to inform, not to advocate.
  • We treat sources and subjects fairly. Everyone gets a chance to respond before we publish serious allegations.

Why Trust Matters

In a small country with concentrated power and tight-knit industries, independent business journalism is rare. We exist to provide a clear, fact-based view of the Maldivian economy – not to please any minister, resort owner, or investor. Our only loyalty is to the reader.

That’s the Tidalist approach: no borrowed language, no grandiosity. Just a straightforward, credible business journal for the Maldives.
